Tour Armenia: winter emotions
Day 1: Arrival – Transfer to hotel
Arrival in Yerevan at Zvartnots International Airport, our representative will wait at the arrival hall for the transfer to the hotel. Overnight in Yerevan
Day 2: Yerevan – Sevan – Tsaghkadzor
After breakfast, city tour of Yerevan where we’ll visit the main sights of the city: National Opera Theater, Cascade Complex, Republic Square and Matenadaran the museum of Armenian Manuscripts. After lunch departure to Lake Sevan, the second highest clear water in the world after Lake Titicaca, which, during coldest winters, freezes becoming a flat iced surface. Visit of Sevanavank, the Monastery on the Sevan Peninsula and continuation to Tsaghkadzor to visit Kecharis Monastery. Transfer to the chosen hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 3, Day 4, Day 5: Tsaghkadzor
Free days in Tsaghkadzor to enjoy skiing on Mount Teghenis with paths of any complexity starting from the top of the mountain with a total length exceeding 30 km; with a difference of height of 853m there will be excellent opportunities for off-track skiing and snowboarding. To enjoy the best snow cover and weather we recommend skiing in January and February, although you can ski from end of December to early April. Half board in the chosen hotel.
Day 6: Tsaghkadzor – Garni – Geghard – Yerevan
Breakfast at the hotel. Departure for the Kotayk region to visit the Temple of Garni, a first century Hellenistic Pagan temple and the only one to survive after the Christianization of Armenia in the IV century AD. A short drive leads to the UNESCO protected Geghard cave monastery, probably the most beautiful of Armenia, which lies in a narrow gorge and is partially carved out of the adjacent towering cliff. Lunch in Garni where the group will have the opportunity to see the lavash (the traditional Armenian bread) baking process. Arrival in Yerevan, visit of the Vernissage open air market (open on Saturdays and Sundays) with plenty of opportunities to buy typical Armenian artifacts. Dinner and overnight at hotel.
Day 7: Yerevan – Zvartnots – Echmiadsin – Khor Virap – Yerevan
After breakfast departure for the ruins of Zvartnots Cathedral, site protected by UNESCO and once one of the most powerful and beautiful examples of Armenian architecture. Continuation to the holy city of Echmiadzin, home of the "Catholicos" of the Armenian Apostolic Church, to visit of Cathedral and the church of St. Gayane. Departure for the Ararat Region to admire the Monastery of Khor Virap and the majestic view of Mount Ararat. Visit of the Monastery and time to descent in the deep well where saint Gregory the Illuminator was prisoned by king Trdat because of his predication of Christian Religion. Return to Yerevan, farewell dinner and overnight.
Day 8: Yerevan – Departure
Transfer to airport for the outgoing flight.
